The Meyre vineyard
The vineyard is run organically. In the cellar, the documented process goes through maceration, fermentation, pressing and fining, with control of fermentation temperatures and the choice of barrels for ageing.
Two appellations, one estate
In Avensan, we sell the wines of our own vineyard, including Château Meyre, classified Cru Bourgeois Supérieur since 2020.
The essentials
To buy at the estate, first compare the appellation, the blend and the vintage you are after. Buying wine directly at the château brings together a Haut-Médoc and a Margaux in Avensan. An external shop also presents the offer for distance orders, with no availability or delivery time stated here.
Choosing without invented notes
Our range documents two reds. Château Meyre carries the AOC Haut-Médoc. Its blend is mainly Merlot, completed by Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Gallen de Château Meyre carries the AOC Margaux, with 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages have product pages for both wines. We would rather give you these verifiable landmarks than invent a taste profile or a food pairing. Current availability still needs to be confirmed before you buy.
The Meyre sauvignon blanc appears in our wine tourism tours, but no product page documents its sale. If you are looking for it, ask about its availability rather than assuming it is part of the range sold all year.
Geography in the bottle
The estate covers 12 hectares split between Haut-Médoc and Margaux. Its soils combine Quaternary gravel, sand, silt and veins of clay. These plots give the two appellations we sell a concrete origin.

2 AOC
The Margaux plots rest on deep Quaternary gravel. They place Gallen in a second appellation, made by the same estate and presented alongside the Haut-Médoc.
Two ways to buy
Direct sales take place at Château Meyre, 16 Route de Castelnau, 33480 Avensan. Avensan is the only physical point of sale documented. No other town is announced as a place of sale, and this website has no built-in ordering process.
To buy Médoc wine online, this site directs you to DirectChâteaux, an external shop in English. You can browse the references on offer at the time of your search there. To prepare a visit to the estate, write to our reception team stating the wine and vintage you would like.
The vineyard is in Avensan, in the Médoc and in Gironde. No sales radius or local travel time is published for other towns in the area. The telephone remains the most direct way to check availability before you make the trip.
Questions before buying
These answers separate the stable information from commercial availability, which can change. They help you focus your request before a purchase at the estate or from a distance.
Start with the appellation and the documented blend. Château Meyre is a Haut-Médoc made mainly from Merlot, completed by Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Gallen de Château Meyre is a Margaux made of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. To go further, ask us for advice depending on the vintage available.
The product pages document the 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages for both Château Meyre AOC Haut-Médoc and Gallen de Château Meyre AOC Margaux. A product page does not guarantee immediate availability. Check the external shop or contact our reception team before making a trip for a specific vintage.
No fixed price is published in the estate information used on this page. The external shop shows the offer available at the time you look. For a purchase at the château, our reception team can tell you which bottles are available before you come. The amount depends in particular on the wine and the vintage available.
Call our reception team on 05 56 58 22 84 or send a request from the contact page, stating the wine and vintage you are looking for. The point of sale is at 16 Route de Castelnau, 33480 Avensan. This check avoids assuming that a reference you saw on a product page is still available when you call in.
